In conversation with Jean-Marc Vallée

Jean-Marc Vallée will be the guest of this second episode of this new prestigious series of conversations within this 2020 edition of the Quebec City Film Festival. He will be awarded with a Honorary Prize for his entire career.

The journalist Manon Dumais had the chance to talk with the Montreal director during an exclusive one-hour recorded meeting, tackling the filmmaker's prestigious career. Following this interview and on the same channel, Jean-Marc Vallée's cinephile's crush will be presented.

Montreal filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée has written, produced and directed numerous award-winning features. From C.R.A.Z.Y. to Cafe de Flore, to three-time Oscar winning Dallas Buyers Club, Wild and Demolition, his films are distinguished by their humanity and carefully curated use of music. Jean-Marc also directed and executive produced all 7 episodes of HBO’s Big Little Lies - winner of 8 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series; 4 Golden Globes, 2 SAG Awards and a DGA Award for Best Director for a Limited Series. He just finished directing all 8 episodes of HBO’s Sharp Objects, an adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s debut novel, starring Amy Adams, which will premiere this summer. Jean-Marc and his producing partner, Nathan Ross, recently launched Crazyrose, a full-service production company that will develop, finance and produce original content. His next feature film on the life of John Lennon and Yoko Ono is meant to be shot in the summer of 2021.

Film critic at Médiafilm from 2001 to 2019 and DVD columnist at Cineplex magazine from 2014 to 2018, she also takes part in different culture TV and radio shows on Radio-Canada.
