The first snow falls on Quebec. At the dawn of the disappearance of their small community of nuns, the congregation of Marie Auxiliatrice begins what will become the sorting of a lifetime - a life of struggles. These brave all-terrain activists, who have faith in God but not in a male-dominated Church, have years of commitment to women's rights, social justice and international solidarity behind them. A precious heritage that Gisèle, Marie-Paule, Nicole, Suzanne and their sisters are preparing to pass on. Between apprehension of death, frank bursts of laughter and watered meals, these women, worthy and free, deeply experience the meaning of sorority. Until the end.

Maxime Faure (30) grew up in France, in the North of Finistère. After a vacillating childhood, torn between the desire to take over the neighbor's farm and a growing dream of making films, he left to study cinema in Rennes and then Montreal. It is there, seizing the opportunity of a major student strike, that he takes a camera and a microphone in order to tell from the inside the daily life of a feminist collective during the Printemps Érable in the short film Tricot, rêve et révolte ! (2012), which was selected at the Festival international du film d'ethnographie du Québec. In 2015, his documentary Masquée becomes at the festival Cinéma sous les étoiles. The following year, he leaves for Ukraine to direct his next film Intranquille (2016), winner of the France Culture / Infracourts Award. Also, Maxime collaborates with Radio-France for his first sound documentary, À ne pas croire (2016), and direct a documentary series Unceded Voices (2017), winner of the Audience Award at the Festival de films féministes de Montréal. Ainsi soient-elles (2019), his first feature film, co-produced by Les films du balibari and Metafilms, will screen in Québec theatres soon.
