Following Johnny Hallyday's death in December 2017, thousands of bereft fans felt the need to come together to support their idol. On their request, the Church of La Madeleine opened its doors and every 9th of the month a mass is said for the late singer.

Direction

Simon, Arthur and Baptiste met at the Church of La Madeleine to shot their first movie. With a camera, a boom and a Lavalier microphone, the three friends followed Johnny’s fans, who organize every month a musical tribute to the French singer. Retiens Johnny is a post-Johnny journey that depicts with humor and dignity Johnny’s fans enthusiasm and their need to sing to stay alive.
Retiens Johnny bears the signature of the three directors. Simon Depardon, a young documentary director, worked with Arthur Verret and Baptiste Drouillac, who just graduated from Conservatoire d’art dramatique, to shot the film in communion with Johnny’s fans.
