Mariam’s marriage is in turmoil when she discovers she’s pregnant. Trapped in a prison of lies and societal pressure in present-day Beirut, Mariam yearns to break free. One day she revolts against the oppression and seeks ways to take back control of her own body and life.

Farah Shaer is a lebanese director, actress, and socio-political activist living between Los Angeles and Beirut, known for her controversial work in exploring Arab Women issues. Farah’s debut short fiction film I Offered You Pleasure (2012) participated in world acclaimed film festivals such as Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival among others but got banned in Lebanon by the government’s censorship bureau. In 2015, she was awarded a full-ride scholarship to pursue a MFA in Film directing at UCLA as part of a fellowship program “Giving voice to the unique perspective of Arab women”. Farah received several awards on her short films including the Motion Picture Association of America Award, James Bridges Award of an Outstanding Director, Delia Salvi Memorial Award for Directing the Actors, UCLA Directors’ Spotlight Award among others.
