La Buvette - Gros plan sur le film d'ouverture Nadia, Butterfly

Our brand new talk show La Buvette du FCVQ will be pre-recorded in Le Diamant in Quebec City and will be broadcast every evening from 6:30 p.m. In this relaxed and pop moment, our host Marième Ndiaye receives artists and craftmakers that are part of our 2020 program.

Tonight, Marième welcomes Pascal Plante, Nadia, Butterfly's director and Katerine Savard, who plays the main role of Nadia Beaudry in the film and also a high-level swimmer in real life! A Buvette with a local flavor, where we will talk about their journey from Quebec, and of this crazy year, between a selection at Cannes 2020 for the film and the 2021 report of the Tokyo Olympics.

In addition, the Pianorama, acclaimed last year on the Place d'Youville, is back in the Buvette! The masterful Alexandre Racine improvises on old films, different each evening, to offer us a musical interlude.

Pascal Plante

Pascal Plante is a Montreal-based filmmaker whose first narrative feature, a punk romance entitled Fake Tattoos, competed at the Berlinale, in Generation 14plus, in 2018. After his graduation from Concordia University’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, Pascal co-founded the production company Nemesis Films, with which he directed numerous short films including Blast Beat (Slamdance 2019), Blue-Eyed Blonde (Best Canadian Short Film VIFF 2015), and Nonna (Slamdance 2017). He is also a podcaster for Point de vues, a podcast entirely dedicated to cinema. Pascal considers himself like a cinephile that became a narrative filmmaker with documentarian tendencies. Nadia, Butterfly is his second narrative feature, part of the Official Selection of the 73th edition of Cannes Film Festival in 2020.

Marième Ndiaye

After completing her Public Communication studies, Marième Ndiaye begins her career as an host and producer for Arshitechs du son-TV, broadcasted at MATV for 9 seasons. She also becomes VJing and host for MusiquePlus, then for VRAK, LCN and Radio-Canada. Currently, Marième is directing the documentary series De par chez nous, which put the emphasis on local development initiatives and meets inspiring people. QCFF's faithful ally, Marième hosted some of its opening ceremonies. She is also an artist: she is currently preparing her third music album.
