1964: In the midst of the Cold War, ten young promising musicians from Mali are sent to Cuba to study music and strengthen cultural links between the two socialist regimes. They invent a whole new genre; Afro-Cuban Music and become the iconic group 'Las Maravillas de Mali'. New Year's Eve 2000: Richard Minier, a French music producer meets a former member of the band in Bamako and decides to bring the band back together.

Richard Minier

Richard Minier is a composer and music producer. He is also an author and director of documentaries and series such as Capitales Inconnues, which embodied the commercial Absinthe for Pernod Ricard in 2013. He has produced albums for Jehro, Marathonians and also Pauline Croze's latest album, Bossa Nova.
With his production company he has developed several projects with strong musical and travel themes, such as the series Mythical Studios and the documentary Maestro. He has also composed many music synchs for commercials (Peugeot, Ben & Jerry's ...) and documentaries ( Global Steak and Obama, The Last Campaign for Capa and Canal +).

Édouard Salier

Édouard Salier is a French director, graphic designer, designer and photographer. His projects, including his short films Flesh and Empire, have competed in competitions and received awards around the world. He made his US debut at the Sundance Film Festival. He has made numerous video clips for artists, such as Massive Attack, Justice and Metronomy and commercials for Nike, Coca Cola and Smirnoff.
His latest short film Habana won the Short Film Grand Prix at the Gerardmer Festival in 2015. He is currently working in Havana on his series Cabeza Madre, produced by Iconoclast and Studio Canal.

Pascal Blanchard

Screenplay

Pascal Blanchard is a French historian and specialist in contemporary history. He works on the "colonial fact", Africa, the history of immigration in France and issues of diversity. He has just co-published French decolonizations. The Fall of an Empire (Editions de La Martinière) and has edited some sixty books on these issues and questions over the past 20 years. He is a member of the Communication and Policy laboratory of the CNRS (Paris) and co-directs the Achac research group. He is the author or writer-director of numerous documentary films, notably Sauvages, au cœur des zoos humains (Arte France, 2018), Les Bleus, une autre histoire de France (France 2, 2016), Artistes de France (France Télévisions , 2017), Paris Couleurs (France 3, 2005), Noirs de France (France 5, 2012), Frères d'armes (France Télévisions, 2015), Champions de France (France Télévisions, 2016) and - for a broadcast in October 2020 - Decolonizations. Blood and Tears (France Télévisions, 2020). He is a regular columnist in several shows, notably in 28 minutes on Arte, and has curated some twenty exhibitions and co-directs the historical communication / museography agency Les Bâtisseurs de Mémoire.

Jean-Philippe Bodin

Screenplay

Jean-Philippe Bodin is a French author and screenwriter who, after 10 years in the live music world (Tour Manager for various French and English groups) and 15 years in the television world as a librarian / investigator (for Thierry Ardisson, Laurent Ruquier or Daniel Picouly), now devotes himself to personal projects.
Currently, he is working on two original 10X26 minute fiction concepts (Buke, le ronin des bois and Le BAL, le Bureau des Affaires Louches) in development at Delobelle Productions.
He is also currently writing (screenplay and adaptation) his first feature film from an 1860 British novel, The Trail of the Serpent by Mary Elizabeth Braddon.
