Emmanuel Mouret
Direction & Screenplay
Film enthusiast originally from Marseille, Emmanuel Mouret moved to Paris where he joined FEMIS (direction department). The prestigious film school, from which he graduated in 1998, allowed him to sign a handful of short films, as well as a medium-length film, Promène-toi donc tout nu !, his graduation film which benefited from a release in theaters in 1999. He plays, alongside Marie Gillain, the hero of his first feature film, Laissons Lucie faire (2000). Mouret will have to wait four years before directing his next film, Vénus et Fleur, a portrait of two young girls in search of a soul mate, a nonchalant comedy presented in Cannes as part of the Directors' Fortnight.
His film Mademoiselle de Joncquières, adapted from a story by Diderot, is his first costume film, played by Édouard Baer and Cécile de France. The film became a public and critical success. In 2020, he directed Les choses qu'on dit, les choses qu'on fait which is part of the 2020 Cannes Film Festival official selection.
