Keisha Rae Witherspoon is an independent filmmaker currently based in South Florida. Her work is driven by interests in science, speculative fiction and fantasy, as well as documenting the unseen and unheralded nuances of Diasporic peoples. She previously wrote and produced the award-winning short film Papa Machete, about the esoteric martial art of Haitian machete fencing. It had its world premiere at TIFF 2014 and its U.S. premiere at Sundance Film Festival 2015, and has been featured on platforms such as National Geographic and The Atlantic. She is a co founder of Third Horizon, a Miami-based Caribbean filmmaking collective.
